Hi, I'm Kara!

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Specialist. I specialize in helping women manage anxiety, overthinking, and self-doubt through compassionate, evidence-based therapy.

My approach to therapy is warm, supportive, and practical.  My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable opening up and having the hard conversations.  I believe therapy should be collaborative and engaging.  As your therapist, I'll actively help you identify patterns, develop insight, and learn tools that allow you to move through the challenges you're facing.

Many of the women I work with come to therapy feeling stuck in cycles of overthinking, perfectionism, and self-doubt.  They often put tremendous pressure on themselves to do everything "right" while quietly struggling with anxiety.  Together, we'll work to understand these patterns and develop healthier, more effective ways of responding to anxious thoughts and feelings.

In our sessions, you'll find a space where you can be open and honest without fear of judgment.  I strive to create an environment where you feel heard, supported, and understood.  At the same time, our work will be goal oriented.  We'll focus on building practical skills to help you manage anxiety so you can feel more confident in your decisions and navigate life with greater ease.

I became a therapist because I believe no one should have to navigate life's challenges alone.  I'm drawn to helping people make sense of what they're going through and find a path forward.  I've seen firsthand how powerful it can be to have a space where you feel truly heard and supported.  Being able to walk alongside someone as they gain clarity, confidence, and relief from anxiety is what makes this work so meaningful to me.

My Approach to Therapy

In therapy, I use a combination of evidence-based treatments to help you understand your anxiety, reduce overwhelm, and develop skills you can use in everyday life. My approach integrates psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation means learning how anxiety works — in your brain, your body, and your behavior. When you understand why anxiety shows up and how it affects you, it becomes easier to manage and less overwhelming. This foundational knowledge is an important first step in effective anxiety treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is one of the most researched treatments for anxiety. It helps you identify unhelpful or distorted thought patterns and learn how to challenge and reframe them. By shifting the way you think, you can reduce worry, overthinking, and the emotional intensity that often fuels anxiety.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

ACT offers a powerful approach to anxiety by focusing less on eliminating anxious thoughts and more on changing your relationship to them. Instead of fighting or suppressing anxiety — which often makes it stronger — ACT helps you move forward with your values, even when discomfort is present.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of staying present and aware without judgment. By grounding yourself in the current moment, you can reduce spiraling thoughts, calm your nervous system, and interrupt the patterns that keep anxiety activated. Mindfulness practices are practical tools you can use anywhere, anytime.
